The last two episodes aren't what I call this show's strong points. The ending's very convoluted and enters into this weird existentialist theme case with Shinji and doesn't really conclude anything. Although you can't blame the creators for this since their budget was severly cut after the showing of episode 18, "Ambivalence". So they were forced to work with what they had and do a lot of stiff animation (even reusing some clips over and over again in the later episodes).
I love NGE and the last...wait episode? do you mean the movie...as the movie is the actual end to the series...the last episode just sums it up....and how is your crotch?

No, I said episode, as in Episode 26, as in Gainax decided to throw in an AU just to see what the Evangelion series would be like as a High School love story type deal.
Eh, it doesn't matter anymore. Life goes on, now I start Ergo Proxy

That point is where everything is taking place in Shinji's mind. It's an odd 'happy place' if you ask me where his mind has developed memories of everyone into corporeal beings that can be conversed with and debated against.
Angelic days is an actual spinoff, taking place within that one schoolday episode. It's not a swift kick in the crotch, it's more of a bash to the medula oblongata.
At that point everything becomes muddled. I can't even pick it apart.

Great...low on AP and my ammo's gone. And I've still got about 3000 MTs to go.
